Milestones in establishing and expanding the BBC Group

The companies that are now part of the Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC Group were originally hardly involved outside of their traditional locations. It was only after the takeover by Giorgio Behr in the 1990s and Cellpack in 2001 that systematic expansion beyond Switzerland began.

Foundation of Bircher Asia Pacific, Bahru (Malaysia)

Foundation of Bircher (USA), Chicago

Acquisition of Reglomat AG, Speicher by Bircher AG, Beringen

Opening of the Bircher production facility in Suzhou (China)

Expansion of Bircher CZ through the founding of Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC Czech s.r.o. in Valašské Meziříčí CZ

Establishment of sales company in Poland

Acquisition of Huser & Peyer AG and  Stationenbau AG by BBC Group and restart after merger as Cellpack Power Systems AG

Acquisition of Baumgartner Group, Crissier, with subsidiaries CFS, Illfurth/F (known today as BBC Cellpack Packaging) by BBC Group

Takeover of approximately 40% of SIA Abrasives, Frauenfeld, by BBC Group followed by a subsequent mandatory takeover offer. This was outbid by the Bosch Group, which subsequently integrated the Frauenfeld company into one of its subdivisions as a further business segment. The BBC Group, on the other hand, had planned to further develop SIA Abrasives as an independent company and public company.

Opening of the production facility in Malaysia

Cellpack AG resp. BBC AG acquired a stake of around 11% in Quadrant, one of Cellpack Kunststofftechnik's main suppliers. This strategic shareholding subsequently had to be sold due to a takeover bid by Aquamit B.V., a consortium comprising four members of the former Quadrant Board of Directors.

Foundation of a sales company in Moscow, Russia (no longer existent today).

New production facility in Radeberg, Germany

Takeover of connector production in the Czech Republic and integration into the operating site in Valašské Meziříčí CZ

Build of Cellpack Medical with clean room in Villmergen, Switzerland

Approval for the production of pressure sensitive mats in Hranice, Czech Republic

Establishment of production plant in India

Acquisition of Safrima AG, Worben, and integration into Cellpack AG (Medical division)

Acquisition of DNT reti strutturate srl, Como

Foundation of sales company in the UAE

Acquisition of ABS in Langgöns - one of the European market leaders for the production of cushion pads (flexible packaging)

Change of organization to a family office and thus more decision-making scope and sense of responsibility for the individual divisions of the BBC Group (=Group Companies)

Merger of Cellpack AG, Villmergen with Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC AG, Villmergen

Change of name from BBC Bircher Automation AG, Beringen, to BBC Cellpack AG, Beringen, and thus expansion of the Beringen sales site

The BBC Cellpack Technology division becomes independent with the foundation of BBC Cellpack Technology AG, Villmergen

Strategic closure of sites in India and Malaysia
